Artist:
::harbourlight::
Album:
Come Home
Release Date:
2008
Genre:
Rock/Pop
Rating:
5
Pros:
Clear lyrics, powerful music, good quality recording, excellent musicianship
Cons:
Slower tempo
<p>Not having a clue as to what style of music it was, I decided on a whim to purchase the debut album of a band that a friend of mine plays guitar for. Boy was I surprised when I first listened to <em>Come Home</em>! <strong>::harbourlight::</strong>'s debut album delivers some memorable tracks, good music, and fine musicianship. A truly enjoyable album that will appeal to a wide range of people.</p>

Being a friend of one of the members of the band meant that I knew that they were recording, and since they're a South African Christian band, I decided to support them financially by buying an album (at least that's what I was telling myself as the reason for buying the album).

So when I eventually fetched my CD from the post office (::harbourlight:: haven't struck a distribution deal yet), Hannah and I popped it into the CD player in the car immediately.Read more »

Music Review: End Of Silence by Red

Artist:
Red
Album:
End Of Silence
Release Date:
March 29, 2006
Genre:
Hard Rock/Metal
Rating:
5
Pros:
Good hard rock sound, nice screaming
Cons:
You can't stop listening to it
The latest release from Red is a solid album that gets you hooked and will not let you go. From pumping hard rock masterpieces, to heartfelt ballads, this CD does not disappoint on any of the tracks. Meticulously engineered to produce the best possible album, with strings and keyboards to give the music a more full-bodied sound, you can hear that Red put 110% into this release. The only problem I have with the album is that I cannot stop listening to it!

I picked up End Of Silence with a gift card I was given, thinking that if the music turned out not that great, it wouldn't be too much of a loss. What delight I experienced when I popped the CD into my car's CD player on the way home, and was greeted with AWESOME music.Read more »

Music Review: Scars Remain (Special Edition) by Disciple

Artist:
Dsciple
Album:
Scars Remain (Special Edition)
Release Date:
7 November 2006
Genre:
Hard Rock/Metal
Rating:
5
Pros:
Good screaming, Biblical lyrics
Cons:
Perhaps a little too much screaming?
The latest album from Disciple rocks your socks off, and is probably their best to date. With solid, biblically-based lyrics and a good screaming voice from Kevin Young, this album is not to be missed! The special edition contains acoustic versions of 4 of their songs, and a DVD with 2 music videos.

Back with their latest album, Disciple brings some hard rocking and scriptural lyrics to the contemporary Christian music scene. Definitely harder than their previous album, the self-titled Disciple, Scars Remain delivers a fair amount of screaming amongst the singing.Read more »

Music Review: Faithfulness by DJ Tony Foxx

Artist:
DJ Tony Foxx
Album:
Faithfulness
Release Date:
1 February 2007
Genre:
Dance/Techno/House
Rating:
4
Pros:
Cool modern dance music, remixes are mostly good
Cons:
Remixes of praise and worship songs, specifically My Redeemer Lives
DJ Tony Foxx is a DJ/artist from Holland with a passion for Christian dance music. This is his second album, containing a number of remixes, and a few of his own original tracks. There are 17 tracks of thumping music, moving smoothly into one another in typical DJ style. This is a must-have album for any Christian who enjoys dance music and wants to increase their collection of Christian music.

Traditionally I've found Christian dance/house/techno music to either be pathetic or non-existent. DJ Tony Foxx brings a nice break to this tradition with his album Fathfulness, the second in his discography. The music itself is good dance stuff, typical of the type you find in clubs.Read more »
