Good screaming, Biblical lyrics

Perhaps a little too much screaming?

Back with their latest album, Disciple brings some hard rocking and scriptural lyrics to the contemporary Christian music scene. Definitely harder than their previous album, the self-titled Disciple, Scars Remain delivers a fair amount of screaming amongst the singing.

One of the things I don't like about most metal bands is their screaming. There are, however, a few bands whose screaming I find attractive. I'm pleased to say that Disciple is one of these bands. They have a fair amount of screaming in their songs, compared to other bands I'm used to, like 12 Stones and Pillar, which only have tidbits here and there. While I do enjoy their screaming, I was drawn to wonder if perhaps they could have screamed a little bit less, and sung a little more.

Hannah was pleased to notice when she looked at the CD cover that they have placed reference verses above the lyrics of each song to show where they drew their inspiration from. This is something I have seen very few bands do, and would love to see more of. These verses were very helpful when I was wondering what the lyrics meant.

The music itself is very hard rock, with doses of metal in there for good measure. If you've heard Pillar's Where Do We Go From Here album, there's a good chance you'll like this album. Dsiciple is a little heavier than Pillar, but still not hitting the heavy metal mark, making it right up my alley.
