More fish saga & Mom's arrival
Well, Harry seems to be getting better. I took a good look at him while changing the water of the hospital last night, and the fin rot seems to be receding once again, so I'm confident of his return to health. In other words, the fish medicine seems to be working. This time however, I have decided to wait until I can't see anymore fungus on him before releasing him back to the tank.Read more »
Harry is on the mend
Well, Harry is still alive, and he's looking much better! He's still in "hospital" but the black of the fungus on his back and fins is fading, and he's holding his dorsal fin high. He's eating well and swimming around vigorously.
I've been monitoring his progress, and I've been cleaning the water every day (or almost every day), so I think that has helped to fight the fin rot.Read more »
Living with a cat
Life with a cat is fun. No, not really.
So today Keena decided that it was time to bring a live grasshopper in to show dad. Well, let me tell you, dad was not impressed. And Keena didn't just bring it into the house, no, she had to bring it all the way up to the bedroom.
As if it's not enough that I already have pieces of dead cricket on my bedroom floor, as well as elsewhere in the house, from where she brought those in and played with them.Read more »
Ernie II and the Dolphin
We'd like to say a warm welcome to Ernie II, the successor to Ernie the First. He arrived today and has speedily made himself at home with the others. This time I didn't get an orange fantail, I got a brownish looking fish, similar to Harry, the more goldfish-looking one. Read more »
Ernie is dead, long live Ernie!
Ernie the fish is now an ex-fish.
I got home this evening to find him floating in the top of the tank. Not unexpected however. He's been looking sickly and swimming funny the last 2 or so weeks, so I've just been waiting for the inevitable.
Oh well, it's off to the pet store on Saturday then to buy Ernie II.
